How is the Ecuador beachfront real estate in Manta?

I am looking for Ecuador beachfront real estate. Many have suggested Manta. What do you think?

1. The city of Manta itself is not so nice, but the surrounding areas of Manta would be excellent places to pick up beautiful but inexpensive beachfront real estate. 2. I'm not a fan of Manta....I prefer Salinas/Playas, Bahía de Caraquez , and Esmeraldas. Keep in mind that they will be a bit more expensive since they are more touristy and much nicer/safer.
