What is the best type of basic Beach Cruiser that isn't over priced?
I'm looking for a fun, simple beach cruiser with a comfortable seat. I have seen several ranging from 169.99 to 500+ I want it to last but not be so expensive.

- You get what you pay for. This is more true for bicycles than it is for many other things in life. If you want a bike that functions better, is easier to maintain, will last longer and is overall more enjoyable, you will spend more money. If more people understood just how true this is, walmart, target, and other dept stores wouldn't devote so much space for poor quality bikes.
- There is a reason why some bikes cost more than others: quality. If you pay less you get less. A cheap bike is cheap because corners have been cut, poorer materials have been used and assembly will not be as well done. If you want something to last, you will have to do one of a couple of things. Buy a cheap bike and spend more time and money keeping it on the road, or spend more at the outset and have many trouble free years of riding. It will likely cost more to buy the cheap bike if you spread the cost over the lifetime of the machine. A good bike could outlast 2 or 3 cheap ones, and would certainly be much better to ride.
- Stay away from Walmart and other department store bikes. The comfortable seats are the one you ride the most on. It takes time to get use to a saddle, even if you rode the whole summer before and took the winter off. You may want to look at the comfort bikes instead of the cruisers. The comfort bikes will have shocks in the the front and usually a shock seat post. The gears also make a huge difference on the hills. For exercise and fun I think a comfort bike will be better.
